FALCON SCHOOL DISTRICT 49
10850 East Woodmen Road
Falcon, CO 80831
Administrative office - 495-3601
Superintendent: Mark Maksimowicz, Ed.D.
On the Web - www.d49.org

BOUNDARIES: The district, approximately 130 square miles, stretches north to Elbert County, south to Omaha Boulevard and Highway 94, west to Powers Boulevard and east to Peyton Highway.

THIS SCHOOL YEAR: Students at both Sand Creek High School and Falcon High School will begin the year in larger and refurbished facilities.  The building additions and renovations at Evans Elementary School and the new 5th-6th grade center, Meridian Ranch Elementary School will see completion in December.  Fostering higher student achievement remains the primary focus of District 49.  The 2003-2004 school year will see the introduction of a new math curriculum across all levels, aggressive professional staff development with an emphasis on math and technology, and the inauguration of Career Academies at Falcon and Sand Creek High Schools.  The Board of Education is currently weighing the possibility of a $62.75 million mill levy override on the November 2003 ballot which, if approved by our voters, would provide funds to build new and add onto existing schools across the district.  The district is projecting that student enrollment will be up by 700 students by the October 1 count.
